If you’re here, then you’re already a lover of the sea. I don’t think I’ve been more than a few miles from the ocean or bay my whole life. You could say it flows through my veins since I am the 13th generation to live here on Cape Cod. The name of my company is a nod to all those generations before me that made their living by the sea.
I especially love to see the ocean on a windy stormy day. My mind always wonders to the days of the old sailing ships where on a day like that the ropes would be taut, the canvas would be tight, and you would risk your life climbing the rigging. You life depended on the knots they used and the rope they tied.
Or I ponder the years sailors would be away from their families on Whaling ships. Lots of down time gave the start to many maritime hobbies. Marlinspike is the beautiful ornate work found on Sailors frames, chest beckets and bellropes. Marlinspike work was the pride of any sailor and ship. The better the work the more desirable the sailor.
A long long time ago a little boat called the Mayflower navigated my family here and here I have been ever since. So you could say the only reason I am here is because some skillfully crafted knots held during a historical trans-Atlantic crossing.
So in honor of the skillfully crafted knots that got me to where I am today, I too, am skillfully crafting knots in the traditional ways with traditional products and some traditional tools that have been handed down over the generations.
